2nd time touching a tig welder

Hey guys, last night in class was my 2nd time TIG welding, 1st pic is an aluminum lap weld, no filler, 2nd pic is a stainless t joint using 308 filler rod. A company has been recruiting out of our class and this is what they have you do for a weld test. My instructor said I should definitely try and test for the job. Reply:Yea, my TIG isn't what I want it to be, but I am pretty happy with it for only using the machine twice. Just need to spend more time under the hood is all.
Reply:Aluminum without filler is for entertainment purposes only, but I'll give you points for showing that stainless weld. Try it again with cleaner metal and fewer amps, maybe smaller filler. Reply:Yeah, I really just wanted to see if I could do it without having the weld crack. Yeah that stainless was just a one shot when I walked into my buddy's booth in class and said "hey lemme give that stainless a go real quick". And yes definitely less heat on the stainless and some more diligent cleaning. I called the shop and they said they wanted someone for 2nd shift with sheetmetal experience, but the manager said to come in to talk about first shift opportunity. So hopefully i can show him that I'm plenty capable, I just need more practice. I got certified in 3g and 4g for stick and MIG, on ASTM A36 for my d1.1. I got a little bored just running stick and mig beads on mild steel for a few hours, so I'm really glad to have the opportunity to learn how to TIG.Also, I believe the job test was an 11" stainless butt weld on 18ga with no filler (not sure why they have you do that other than to show puddle control), an outside corner joint on aluminum with filler (practiced those and did just fine, but sorry no pictures) and I believe an aluminum lap joint.
