Caught my eye at Lowes, will store the XMT in the lower cabinet and cut holes in left and right side for controls access and air flow. Will mount screen on intake air end, haven't decided which orientation yet. Wire feeder will sit on top which will also be restored. Will make frame for larger wheels and cylinder(s) support brackets and attach to it for lead storage on back side.Testing Rustoleum Sail Blue as suggested here, and thinking about applying product similar to this blue diamond plate vinyl on the larger flat surfaces. Looking for a gallon of safety blue, not stocked at my Lowe's. Attached Images
Reply:Looks like you addressed the big issues I had which would be access and air flow. If you want to get slick, you need to get some of the panel mount connectors and put the Dinse connectors on the face of the cabinet. It will eat up money to do super short cables with connectors, but let you plug in right to the cabinet face like on the machine. The other option would be to cut the hole in the side exactly to match the face on the XMT and set the machine tight to the wall if that makes sense.Part of me keeps wondering if putting the feeder in the lower cabinet wouldn't be a better choice so it's sort of like a cabinet mig and leave the XMT up top..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:10-4 on the HF wheel. China's best....
Reply:Kinda not getting it. Looks like the amount of modification necessary would make it counterproductive. I'd want alot of airflow around the machine for cooling. Where do you plan on attaching the tanks? I'm at the point where I need to build a cart for my XMT, feeder suitcase, tig, Coolmate and plasma. Reply:IDK but Miller specifies 18" clearance on all four sides for the Thunderbolt XL welder. I would think seriously about the airflow in a cabinet. YMMV.
