Samm, it's not just the wire!

It's the rods too!!!I was getting ready to change the oil in the Commander today. So, I figured I would do what I enjoy most, burn some rods to warm the engine. I happen to look on the shelf, and it hits me....... Blue Demon!!! Back in school last year, a banker took the class and bought these. He handed them to me and told me he would probably never use them, enjoy. I grab some left over leaf spring stock from my brothers Excursion rebuild project last year, and went to town.Samm, it's not just the wire, the rods suck too! For the life of me, I could not get a decent bead out of this crap. Reply:The box might be made in the US, along with all the components of the box. I doubt the rods actually get made here.
Reply:The LWS around here don't carry much if any Lincoln rod they say there customers won't pay the price.  I would rather spend money on rods that waste time trying to get the crappy stuff to work.  For 7018 it's hard to beat Excalibur.

Reply:Save the leaf spring stock for knifemaking! You can get pretty nice blades out of it with some grinder/file/belt grinder work!Anyway, good to know which brand of welding consumables I should never buy. However I doubt I could come across that brand here in Spain anyway. Most of what I am able to buy is ESSAB...Mikel
