Hello guys..I am a new member here.. @.@ need your assistance about something that we faced.. Ok then, i will tell you the story now.. Today many famous brand like Lincoln, esab, oerlikon, Kobelco has been recognized in our country..  but, i am interested with another brand from India, their brand is Ador, which is formerly known as Advani-Oerlikon. This company was made a long join-venture with Oerlikon since 1951. They has very big reputation and strong brand in India, which is the main competitor of Esab in India. We know from internet also, when lincoln entered india, they has considered Ador as a jointventure mates.. but after all the consideration, they choose to build a small factory that produces wires only and import from China for Sticks.. They(ador) has very very big reputation which had been recognized by India science minister and government and also from many of middle east country. We plan to bring their product to our country, and we want to use them in our factory , which had been focusing in construction..Today we make a test with their 6013 and 7016 Electrodes,we weld plates with thickness around 10mm to test.. so that, i need your advice about this picture and the weld bead.. We used to weld with RB 26 Kobelco that has very famous in our country, but based on our opinion, and after test it self, we found out that Ador electrodes is good and acceptable..Need your fair opinion.. thanks and best regards  GBU6013 Fillet WeldingRotate left once >.< 7016 Fillet WeldingFrom their website:6013 Fillet Welding6013 V-down Welding Last edited by WantToKnow; 01-14-2013 at 12:31 PM.
Reply:i forgot to tell that when we test, we use 2 pass on 6013 F Welding, and 3 (lazy) pass 7016
Reply:I think these women are trying it out, nice health and safety in the workplace  No fireproof overalls, No Bench and a 50c pair of sun glassesYou need to be careful buying from india they have terrible welfare regulations, only a few months ago Hundreds died trying to get out of a factory where all the Exits were locked...... To keep them in
Reply:Thanks for your advice.. I already investigate about this company for 6 month.. Ador Welding is the pioneer of welding business in India.. They have 5 factory in India, and 1 welding academy also.. Ador itself is a group of many company, that ador welding focusing serve Indian welder for 61 years+.. I hope they wouldn't do something bad.. Because many things that need to be considered as a big group and go public company to do it.. And how about the weld bead?
Reply:Being decently new to welding myself, take my advice with a grain of salt, but it looks alright to me.  I personally think its just a tiny tiny bit cold, but otherwise seems good. I would reccomend doing some type of break test or etching personally...

Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749Yeah, I totally got it.It's almost impossible to avoid some contact with buying goods possibly produced by slave labor, etc. That is why many countries (including the US) bring ships destined for scrapping to Alang, where there are virtually NO environmental regulations & unsafe work practices are the norm. They pretty well storm the ship with hand tools & torches by the thousands & cut it up by hand. This of course, saves the company who actually owns the ship untold amounts of money it would cost to have it scrapped in England or the US. Pakistan & China also have a hand in the ship breaking industry.Even tho its seen a decline in recent years, many thousands of ppl seek out work there because it pays better than anything else in their region. It's a bad deal man. I try really hard not to support things I know are prolly manufactured in those conditions, but it like trying to avoid GMO food, try as you may, sometimes it's impossible.IMHO of course
Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749The first couple look good, but 6013 is a pretty easy rod to run Of course, bead appearance alone is by no means a definitive method of demonstrating a sound weld. Lots more factors. In reality, the rod is prolly made to an acceptable standard & meets industrial requirements. What some are pointing out is the conditions in which products from "developing countries" are manufactured. The Chinese can produce top of the line products.....if you want to pay for them.IMHO of course
Reply:Doing it again, with no regards to health and safety, Do the Indians hate their women so much that they dress them in flammable clothing with no face protection welding??? Where are all the men, down the shipyard dying  i guess I'd sooner Purchase something that would create and Keep American and British jobs, before importing something from a 3rd world county with little or no health & safety. The Rods might be good for The Far east and china but i doubt they'd pass American and British StandardsLast edited by Gerry1964; 01-15-2013 at 10:47 AM.

Reply:I'm talking about their rods, i don't think that they would be upto both American or British safety standards, The flux might include prohibitive minerals or chemicals and also Cancer causing agents. This is why in the UK we have British Standards and the Americans have a similar standard, Its all about health & safety, and being honest reading their sales literature says they don't give a dam about Heath & Safety.Look at it from a different angle If these rods were so good and someone was lucky enough to be granted an import licence to bring them into the country why hasn't it already been done, i've been welding 30 years in the UK and i've never heard of them, to me that says it all.Cheaply made for the Indian far eastern markets where health & safety is not an issue. How did you get your sample to do your welds if they don't have them in the US.if you think that US is great than them. why Lincoln want to made a joint venture with them after more than 50 years they work together(i mean advani-oerlikon/ador)?

Oerlikon is not that great a brand, i don't rate them, there machines or there rods, so no suprises thereLincoln hasn't been able to make any deals with anyone since they shot him in the theater  Anyway for a guy asking about how a rod performs you know a hell of a lot about this company, are you sure your not a salesman
Reply:Well maybe its my eyes, or maybe its the picture, but the toes of the weld look just the TINIEST bit cold, but then again i wouldnt worry about it too much because im probably seeing things.  To fix a cold weld you would turn up the amps/ volts.
