Sears is selling this set i was thinking about getting. Is there any others out there that come in a set at a reasonable price.http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00945634000 Attached ImagesLast edited by WANNAWELD; 08-21-2007 at 01:11 PM.
Reply:Try this place:http://www.harryepstein.com/wilton-bar-clamps.htm
Reply:we use the sears clamps alot, none have ever broken. Snap on also makes a nice snap clamp with large flat ends on them instead of the smaller ends on the sears ones. More money, but they hold alot better. Those wilton l-clamps are worth their weight in gold.Id get a bunch of both.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Not American, but Bessey clamps are made in Germany and are amazing. I also have a bunch of old Armstrong and Hargrave C clamps that are built like tanks. I get the Bessey's at my LWS, the otheres at used tool stores and yard sales.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:I have about 20 the vice-grip c-clamps 11R model. (The 11R are like those in the top left of the picture). There is similar vice clamp brand name LockJaw. I think they are made in the USA. I don't own any but have seen them displayed at my welding suppply store They are cool because The grip anything/anysize within there capacity. You only adjust the tension.I bought several off Amazon.com. They were $12 for 11R. I think it was just before they went Irwin/vice grip.I buy a lot second hand. also. You can buy replacements parts for vicegrips. You probably would be better purchasing clamps individually rather than a set.
Reply:I have always used Vice grip clamps. I have over 100 11" clamps, and Numerous in the 6", 18", 24", and 30" lengths. They have always served me well. You can get them from enco for around $13-$14 bucks.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:do not get them at Tractor supply. They are cheap and do not clamp well and are do not clamp squarely.
Reply:DO NOT SKIMP ON CLAMPS. Pay as much as you can to get quality. It really does make a difference. I agree. Bessy clamps, and Vise Grip brands are the best. And of course, any heavy duty C clamp will work great. But by all means, don't buy cheap sets from places like cummins just cause you get 8 pieces in a carrying case. What a rip off!! |
