Anyone know of a spool gun extension? I have an XMT 456, and I'm looking to buy an aluminum welding rig for. I think I've narrowed it down to either a 15a or 30a spool gun, or an xr-a spool gun. I've got a structure that has quite a few hard to reach spots. Basically I've got a 3" square opening, 6" deep, and I need to weld the bottom fillets. Material is 3/4" thick aluminum. They said the last guy who welded this for them used some kind of extension. I saw Miller makes a flex head attachment for the 15a, 30a, and xr guns, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the older guns or only the new ones. I sent tech support an email over there so I'll see what they say. But I believe that gives me a 10" extension, which should be good. I don't want to spend $2-$3,000 on a new xr-system, and even the new 15a set up is around $1,500 with the control and extension.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker
Reply:My CobraMig Prince gun has a 1"extension that I bought for it. You can actually stack them one after another for desired extension. Don't know if Miller offers them, as my XR gun has removable necks.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea. |
