Im a hobbist welder. I have a 110 Lincoln mig. I'm wanting to upgrade my welder. I'm not going to weld anything over 1/4". I have been looking  at two welders. Millermatic 180 ($859) and Hobart Handler 190 ($649). Both are spool gun ready. The Miller has infinite amp setting and the Hobart has tap amp setting. Is the Miller with tap setting worth the extra $200?
Reply:Invest a couple hundred more and get the Miller 211. Sounds perfect for your needs too. It is a multi volt 110/ 220 machine. This is a infinite setting machine too. Is it worth it ? Yes , in my eyes.  Hobart is fine, but I'm a Miller guy. All we use at work are Millers, and they keep on going, no fail. My local supplier price is $1025.00. There are a lot of posting on this.http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...p?model=M00245
Reply:I would go with either the HH190 or HH210.

Reply:That is a great deal...   I would love to know how well the spoolgun works with a tapped voltage machine that has only 7 settings.  I know already they work great with A migmaster 250, gut those have 24 overlapping voltage settings..     Video and pics and even a review would be awesome when you get it.  If you feel up to it.    I love amazon too. there customer service and warranty support is second to none.  even if you are buying from one of their marketplace or partner suppliers...Last edited by soutthpaw; 01-31-2013 at 08:30 AM.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:I love my miller 180. Go bigger if you can and get the 211. You can really dial the machine in and "mig like tig".Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:I would look at Thermal Arc 181i an 211i .tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:Go with the Miller 211. Great machine.
Reply:Always go for infinite controls over taps, especially if you are going to be doing thinner gauge. It gives you more control over the arc and less frustration with burn through.138# anvilHomebuilt 6 tap kegerator100# cone anvil5" post viceVarious hammers ranging from 250g to 2000gSome tongsA few screwdriversA wrench or twoOh, and a Fronius TPS 2700
