Had to put 2 frames together today..Took me 10 hrs. just to get everything cleaned..Print figured out..Then tacked in place..The engineer will be in tomorrow AM to give them a final check before I make them impossible to get apart...We all know what fun it is to get a pile of parts that have been spit out of a punch press and a shear don't we?The angle pieces were made from sheet..Therefor they came bent "Inside" and "Upward"..Now I have to straighten them out..Holes are all wrong..I had to get them all "The Same" then mark them in pairs so we have a mirror image of the parts..(Note red marker marks in pics)...And don't screw them up!!!!Parts are not all the exact same size..Nothing is deburred..Nothing is clean...Nothing fits like it should..And the print is SO screwed up that I actually had to put these together upside down AND backwards..But they both came out the same so they must be right..Right?We'll see tomorrow. The parts with the holes are put in on a 14 Degree angle facing inward..The dimensions are from the INSIDE of the parts and all come from one end with the middle spacing actually on the print...But they are together and once they say "GO!"...........I go.I get all the fun jobs......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Bah! That's one of those 5-10 minute welding jobs there, boyo. About 100 tack welds at a 'generous' 5 seconds per tack gives 500 seconds of welding.Never mind the material clean-up, re-machining, fit-up, alignment, and so forth. Or apparently trying to just figure out the original 'drawing' (not on a napkin, this time? )Did the holes in the 'slats' have to be made with that 14 degreee angle off perpendicular, or were/are the holes not quite that 'particular'? The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:Sounds like you must have been at my place of employment for the day. That is everyday procedures there. I can't figure out how they don't go under, profit margins must be huge.
Reply:Busy Busy Busy!!!Got the frames and the other parts all done today...Here are some aluminum welds..No stopping in the corners....Just go uphill when you get there..Next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Now for the chute assys..These were made "To Order" and that means they are individually marked where they go and DO NOT MIX THEM UP!!!!!I had to bolt the plate where it goes then align the stiffener bars and screw them where they go and then clamp the 2 parts together and then weld without making a mess out of everything..I had to make 20 of these..Clamp in place..1 bolt for now..Align both ends..This is one end of the stiffener bars..Both ends get one..Welded assy..20 pcs.Next post.....zap!Last edited by zapster; 05-15-2013 at 04:47 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
