Reply:This is an ad. It's not a contest. And frankly, it's not all that funny. But there is just enough entertainment value that we're not going to act on this -- unless we hear from other community members. This kind of posting flirts with the spirit of our user agreement and is not being encouraged.Bob RosenbaumFormer PublisherPenton's WELDING Magazine

Reply:BTW, This kind of a paper or other material mask that's made or advertised for anything but a cosmetic purpose - like all of those facial masks that are pressed against the face by an elastic band, are patently useless as a safety device in any activity requiring any degree of movement of the head or face as they have no basis for maintaining the seal between the edge of the mask and the face. they are also doubly useless in most welding, painting or spraying, dusty, turbulent, outdoor, and grinding applications because they dont stop any of the volatile or allergenic substances or airborne materials of small particle size, which are easily inhaled right trough the material and then quickly absorbed onto/into mucous membranes and other tissues. if you aren't going to wear a real respirator type mask that seals against your face in all activities and uses a bonafide filtration medium- then dont kid yourself that you are staying "safe" with this type of item- it's worse than useless because some people still believe it actually works to prevent them from inhaling dangerous materials, when it does virtually nothing to stop those that are truly dangerous. its just a palliative product type - it does virtually nothing to prevent inhalation of airborne materials smaller than its filter size and it fails miserably to maintain an effectively safe seal against ingress of other materials into the breathing area. just another way to fleece people out of money - the product just doesnt provide any reasonable degree of safety. as a dumb looknig duckbill- its entertainment value is ALL that it is good for, and it doesnt need further publicity here. you might as well wrap some toilet paper around your head- it does more good than this kind of mask.
