What's a guy to do? A small package shows up at the house addressed to me although I didn't remember ordering anything. It's return address is from "The Treasure Chest" which further confounds me, (easily done). Squishing this soft package between my hands it feels almost like trouser suspenders in a soft package. I figure "what the hell" and open it up. To my surprise and yet to be reckoned with is a gift from my wife that was for Christmas of three "Tillman" 525 rod bags. Being that I ripped open the package distorting it's original shape I figgered I'd best fess up and suffer the consequences which I did.Besides swearing she's gonna have to "nutt" me and calling me a snoop, nothing really happened. However she's always been one to strike from the shadows so I'll need to watch my back for a few days and take my chances.I can see where these would be handy in some applications, and kinda in the way for others.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:So let me get this straight; She ordered it using YOUR name? Did she forget you live there too? lol My wife orders stuff all the time. I just don't open any of her packs, and rarely do I even ask what they are. During the holidays, she has all kinds of packs coming and she knows if she makes sure they are in her name, I won't open them or even ask about them.Lincoln Dual 180 Power MIG

Reply:It was addressed to me and is the reason I seen no harm in opening it. I seldom check, or look at the mail so usually a pretty safe bet I wouldn't see it if mailed. Usually anything for me comes to the shop. I happened to be home for lunch break when I heard the postman rattle the mailbox so retrieved the mail which is probably the second time in six months.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....

Reply:Originally Posted by BistineauThat would have been a good option. Then when she did not recieve the package as expected, she may have reordered it or got the company to resend. Either way you may have ended up with two sets of them, and she would not have to be any the wiser because of it.A couple of years ago, the wife ordered a womans ring. It arrived with my name on the package, so I opened it. Since it was addressed to me I figure it's mine to do with as I want, so I hid it away. When she asked something about it, saying she ordered herself a ring, I denied any knowledge of it since it did not have her name anywhere on the package or paperwork with it. She ended up contacting the company and raised so much hell with them over not recieving it, they sent her another, no charge. I gave it to her for Christmas that year and she loved it, and never noticed it was the one she ordered. The two rings look somewhat different, so she never caught on. I suspect she used my credit card to order it, so I don't feel too bad about it anyway.

Reply:Paypal now sides with the buyer over 90% of the time if the money isn't gifted. When you are on the other end, its not so fun. Its why each package I send has to get a signature with delivery receipt. Someone got it, not my problem now.

Reply:Back to the original content:I used one of the rod bags last evening and must admit, I'm quite happy. I never seem to have rods nearby when needing another and most times have to get out of the position currently in to reload. Having them strapped to your side sure makes it easier. I promptly told my wife how much I appreciate her gift, (albiet early) and I don't know about you guys, but there just ain't nuthin in the world better than seeing your girl smile ear to ear knowing she did something you appreciate.Maybe a trip to the "Golden Arch's" is in order? Thanks,SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....

Reply:My wife orders stuff all the time with my(our) CC. It usually comes to her name, but even if it came in my name, I wouldn't open it as I generally know exactly who I ordered stuff from and when it is due to arrive.Example is this week will be 2 packages, one between now and Friday containing Head/Manifold gaskets and one on Friday/Saturday containing a vintage rebuilt Fuel Pump.Hoping she don't get the mail those 2 days, it will be her surprise when the CC bill comes!

Reply:Slob,  What a small world. I could open the package and set it on the table and still get it for a gift and act suprised, but she would spend more money to get me another suprise. I once went to a auction and told her I will need a letter of guarantee for a check and she refused. Oh well I bought it anyway. She tells me hobby and hoarder both start with the letter "H" and I just visit our house. We have been married a long time so she is use to it and we still have a lots of fun being together.                                         AWPmanLast edited by AWPMAN; 11-06-2014 at 10:15 PM.
