Considering adding a belt sander to a home shop. Today, I use a 4 1/2 inch grinder with flap disk and was thinking belt sander would be better for finish work..Anybody tried this one? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93981Any other recommendations? Thanks
Reply:That sander is a little on the underpowered side. I had a Craftsman in that size. I gave it away and got the 6x48 HF belt sander. (It was on sale)http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=6852I use the belt sander to square up ends of stainless tubing and to shape brackets. The larger sander makes quick work of shaping and sanding and does not stall easily. It didnt take much pressure to stall the small sander. What ever you get just make sure it has some power.mm135HTP Invertig 201 With water cooler9" Southbend LatheLots of hand tools.
Reply:I have the same one as papasloan.. I also have one that i bought at Lowes for about $60.00.. It is a little underpowered but if I don't push it it works okay..
