I'm looking into getting a thermal dynamcis plasma cutter, but can't find a dealer that is really close to me. So, I figured that if I'm going to have to drive 45 minutes plus to buy the thing I should buy one from a place with great custome service. Can anyone recommend a dealer? Another option is to buy the thing online, but I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not. Any thoughts about online purchase? I'm looking at the CutMaster 52 machine by the way. Thanks, Nick.
Reply:I use New Bedford Welding Supply, http://www.nbweldingsupply.com/As far as online, go for it! I recommend two places,Harris Welding Supply in Monroe OH http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...erid=torchkingand INDIANA OXYGEN CO. http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...gsuppliesatiocI like to buy local but it's hard to beat the free delivery, $200 - $300 less on the units and no tax. And for me it a 2 hr drive to th "local welding supplier" NBWS is very good to work with and I did get my MIG from them since I wanted to go look at it and talk with someone.Last edited by Me!; 01-09-2008 at 12:43 AM.Me!
Reply:Try Cyberweld-- where i got mine for about $400 less than local dealers, with free shipping and no sales tax. Also Indian Oxygen has the same low price, etc. and both are reliable internet sales companies. It has been a reliable machine, but 20' torch lead is a little too long and cumbersome for my use, but it will come in handy if I can afford a PlasmaCam or such in the future.Be sure to get good air cleaners, like Motorguard, as they will save consumables and optimize performance.
Reply:Nick, I agree with ME!, go to NBWS. It is worth the ride, talk to Jeff, or Gillie. Also Advantage Tools, and Gasses on 28 in Manchester NH has great prices.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Maybe you would like to ask Thermal, who they think would be the best. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:I've talked to thermadyne, and they pretty much used the search on their website. Airgas is the closest in Salem NH, but I have heard some mixed feelings on this board about the companies customer service. I have a great local Lincoln Dealer and if Lincoln's plasma cutters were more in the right price range I would go with him. But for a comparable machine it is almost another $1000. I'll give NBWS a call.
Reply:Called NBWS. Not the cheapest price around. I may have to take my chances and go the online route.
Reply:They might not be the cheapest, but Jeff will work with you. And there customer service is great.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
