Reply:Just remove the negative battery cable before welding and be sure to clamp your welding ground lead to the mower deck instead of the tractor itself.
Reply:Personally, I don't even bother to remove the cable. I have been welding off the back of my trucks for years with no issues. I say weld away. Of course the battery is easy to get to, so if it makes you feel good, then pull the cable.

Reply:MY kubota deck cracked in the same spot, I just dropped the deck because all the grass underneath will catch fire. Raise the wheel up a notch or two it should not be in constant contact with the ground.

Reply:I've welded on trucks and such and never disconnected the battery. People forget that the battery acts like a giant capacitor anyway and you won't fry anything. But.... If it makes you feel better, yeah, disconnect a terminal lead.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
