One of our former employees brought in a handicap ramp that had the bottom retractable hinge assy break off so now it's my turn to be it.Had to deal with the old weld from a mig but my trusty grinder took care of that.Bottom of ramp and broken off hinge tube..Clamp..Note where the old welds were..Look close.I tacked the bottom in 4 spots then did the top..Top pass 1...Pass 2..One more post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Years ago, I met a guy who'd paid our price with his legs in the rice paddies.  I met him so I could do some household mod's so he could live there with his 'limits'. I was building a sort of 'bos'n's lift that would allow him in and out of bed, without someone there to move him. [Just a 'davit' mounted to the wall with a little electric winch to allow him to pick himself up and swing out of his wheel chair to the bed.]After we spend a little time talking, he told me "straight up" he'd be fine without me calling him 'handicapped' (which I didn't realize was rude to him) and so I asked what he'd like to hear from me?Limited, challenged, beat-up and so on were all good, (even low life, drunk, useless M'F'r were OK)   but handicapped, was real low on his list.Zap worked on an 'access ramp' but may not have realized it?I know it's PC and sometimes seems like BS to use the term "physically challenged" but that is, as I understand it (?), preferred by those who live with those limits as compared to 'handicapped'?Just a note.Fine hand Zap, as usual, nicely done.Cheers,Kevin MorinKenai, AK
Reply:Nice work.
Reply:Nice work Zap as always.  I carry a complete breakdown long ramp and short ramp in the car almost everywhere the wife and I travel.  My wife knows she is handicapped but she doesn't let semantics get in her way.   "G"ConductorX - The Volkswright Shophttp://volkswright.blogspot.com/http://bugwerks.blogspot.com/Miller DVI w/Spoolgun - Miller Plasma Cutter
