I just received my TD-39 plasma and was very disappointed when I read that you have to cut the plug end off the cord to make it run on 220. I assumed that it would come with two plugs like the Miller DVI. I really don't want to go cutting on the cord if I don't have to but, I would like to be able to change back and forth with out having to change the plug ends out. Whats everyone else doing?grizz_____________________________________________Miller DVITD-39HF 4x6 BandsawHF Bender & Ring RollerCraftsman 12 inch Drill Press4.5 inch Grinders10 inch Metal shearAnd numerous other little goodies!!!
Reply:Just make up an adapter.  I would set the machine up for 220 volt and then make an adapter for 110.  Pretty straight forward, just make sure you get the adapter wired right.
Reply:I agree with Nick. I made a whip that used #10 power cord, and wired it up to convert from 110 to 220. I also labeled the whip as a suicide cord-ie. if you plug a skilsaw into this, it's suicide!! The cord I had laying around, and the plug ends I bought for about $14 combined. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:I just added a 20 amp plug in the shop and made a 110 -220 volts adaptor cable.I have the TD cutmaster 38Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Thanks guys, I just went ahead and cut the 115 plug of and wired it the same as my welder. Just didn't feel right to have to cut on a new $1000 toy. Why do they use the 115 plugs with one of the pongs sideways?grizz_____________________________________________Miller DVITD-39HF 4x6 BandsawHF Bender & Ring RollerCraftsman 12 inch Drill Press4.5 inch Grinders10 inch Metal shearAnd numerous other little goodies!!!
