I looked on YouTube for people cutting stuff with plasma cutter and saw a several on cutting glass.  I was taught that plasma will only cut through any conductive material, and glass isn't one of them.   Thoughts?
Reply:I haven't seen those videos, but if you were to paint the area to be cut with aluminized paint it would conduct electricity and thus allow for arc initiation and cutting I believe. My concern with doing this would be that rapid cooling from the process might cause cracking too. Best regards, Allanaevald

Reply:If you have a plasma that can run in continuous pilot mode....it will cut glass. Expect extremely short consumable parts life, and cracked glass. It does a terrible job on glass, trust me!Jim Colt  Hypertherm

Reply:Glass melts at a pretty low temperature.....so the plasma torch pilot arc is more than adequate. The glass "crazes" and usually shatters due to the rapid thermal change....not a good process at all. Sure.....you could put a sacrificial sheet either in front of the glass or behind the glass and add even more power, more temperature......probably would get a larger pile of shattered / crazed glass much faster! If the metal was in front of the glass it would embed the molten glass with particles of metal as well.Glass cuts quite well with a waterjet.....a much better process than plasma or laser for the application.Jim Colt  Hypertherm
