ChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder
Reply:Dawg!!! A drill press can't even touch one of those. My dad traded the drill press for one of those when I was about 12. Ruined me for life, LOL.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:hmmmm.  i will never be so lucky.
Reply:Hey chopper,Congrats on the new mill. I can see that it is a Jet and they are made in Taiwan. We have pretty close to the same one at work looking at the physical makeup of your unit. I've been using it for 9 years now and it works superb and is accurate. I will suggest you clamp a good straightedge on the table and use a dial indicator to check runout in both directions. Sometimes the gibs need snugged or adjusted. I do a check on ours twice a year to insure it's alignment is correct and it has consistently maintained a <.0005. They are well made and will provide you with many years of excellent machining. You will like it..... DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Nice toy, that will open up a bunch of new possibilities for you.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:I have a similiar one....does all sorta of nice stuff.  Want to upgrade to a bigger unit though.  Need to sell this oneBest Times with 434 Naturally Aspirated Vette60 - 1.261/8 -  6.37@ 107.25 MPH 1/4 - 10.08 & 134.9MPH1/4 - 9.60@144MPH
Reply:I have exactly the same drill, called a RF20 , made by Rong-Fu in Taiwan ,mines a 415v and is 20 maybe 30 years old. Its not junk and I reckon she has another 20 in her.Not quite a mill but more than a drill. You will love it. Attached ImagesA good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:Purty nice. The vice looks like a nice one too.
Reply:I bought a Jet about 1975. I don't remember the model number but it is big, pulls a 3 1/2" face mill. I worked it pretty hard for several years and still use it all the time. I put a 6" wilton drill press vice on and also have an 8" rotary table for it. These are quality machines. I have never had a minutes trouble with mine. It even still has the original belts on it. Enjoy.
Reply:Mine's had a rough life. I'm down to one hand-wheel and one feed lever!Attachment 16957Can I still join the club? Last edited by denrep; 02-12-2009 at 02:12 AM.

Reply:and as for import or domestic ,i do not think that any mill/drill are made here.and i have no way to move a full size mill in to my shop and no room for itChuckASME Pressure Vessel welderOriginally Posted by BrettBig call ironken,Without saying anything it appears you are implying a hidden agenda on yorkiepap's behalf. From yorkiepap's posts I had come to the conclusion that he didn't have blinkered preconceptions .Do you own or have owned one of these drills?Have you used one? What were your impressions after several thousand holes as to its value for money , reliability , suitability  for intended use?
Reply:Originally Posted by ironkenyorkie knows what I'm driving at....I don't get why you question my experience with a mill drill....I made no reference to the machine, but, to answer your question....I have zero experience with a "mill/drill". Wow several thousand holes??? Again no experience with a mill drill. My paltry experience only goes as far as Cincinatti Milacron CNC equip and a 54 spindle gang drill (rail industry), and a few Bridgeport mills. Mere childsplay compared to a big 'ol Rong Fu mill drill. I will (embarassed) back out of this thread now.
Reply:Nice!  I want one!But I have to ask: What's with that container labeled "SNO BOWL" on the shelf to the left and behind the new JET mill?  Are you using that as a cutting coolant??  Member, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
