Are they good machines? Looking at the one w/ the built in compressor. Anyone have one?
Reply:never used one but ive always been told not to get one with built in compressor
Reply:I have of the small unit that works off of 110 volts. It does good and fast cut up to 1/8" thick and will cut up to 1/4" but very, very slow. I have had good results with it, but I am only a hobby metal worker and do not have a lot of experience working with metal.
Reply:I've got a small hypertherm 110 unit with built in compressor.  If you're going to be happy with clean cuts ONLY up to 1/8" then go for it.  But I'm finding out that once you have experienced the ease of plasma cutting, you want to do more and more of it.I do art also, so until I started to want to cut up old O2 cylinders, I was happy with the cuts on the 16 gauge mile steel.bob
Reply:I have a Hobart SmoothCut II and yes it is a very good machine, external air supply. never ever any problem. If I Can't Weld It!-----It Can't Be Welded!
