Welder Built Engine Drive

I didnt make this baby but I picked up off craigslist,Its a Custom SAE 200- JIts Essentially a Sae 200-j welder which is an Electric motor running a GeneratorSomeone took a Onan, CCKB engine and added it to the generatormaking it a 3 phase 440 volt welder,the starter has a issue but I am looking forward to see what it does Attached Imageshttp://www.forgingtechnology.com/
Reply:Me thinks that 440 volts is a tad too much to weld with...440 amps would be a different storyNow as a generator that would run most welders that you plugged into it depending on it's amperage output ...into the welding machineBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:It should work.Just need to spin the welding generator at 1800 or so rpm.
Reply:the generator says it is a "3 Phase 440 volt"but honestly I havent figured the thing outit also has a Constant voltage lever  (small one on the left) and a Constant current lever (bigger one on the right)now it seems like neither go to zero... LOLI am going to assume that when one is on the other is at the bottom... maybe someone can shed some light on the situation.I am pretty sure this is a 200 amp 100% duty cycle machine it has a notch that says 240 amp on it and then another 1/8th turn and it says "Max power"its funny little machine but someone put some money and effort into it,it has a small block chevy altenator and and a voltage meter for it, the engine block has a oil pressure gauge on it, the oil was really clean toothis thing has so much compression pull starting it might knock me on my *** its eitther a 20 or 24 hp but its a strong unit for surehttp://www.forgingtechnology.com/
