Reply:Worm holes. Can't live with them or without them. Fluxcore wire seems to be the culprate. As to why I'm not sure, gas seems to be travelling under the slag. I'm sure others with more experience can elaborate.
Reply:Here is a place to read on worm tracks.http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...ess-welds.aspxLots of stuff on this website too - just search FCAWDave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:In the past I have experienced that with a dual shield wire and came to find out that I had to high of wire speed which resulted in to many amps. That's what caused the worm cracking in my welds. I brought my wire speed down which decreased my amps and that solved my problem. Here is a link to ESABs product data sheet that gives pferamaters for the wire your using. They have done the work of finding the best settings for their wire so I start with that. I then fine tune it form there. http://esabna.com/esab/dbReplacement...data_sheet.pdfGood luck and I hope this helps!KroekerKroekerMiller Trailblazer 302Miller Dial ArcMiller Suitcase 12RCVictor Torch
Reply:500 ipm for .045 dual shield may be getting close to the limits of that machine. The actual voltage may be less than what you set because the current is beyond what the 252i can make at 30V.Also, old wire that has absorbed moisture can also cause worm tracks.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:@ kroeker thanks that was very helpful@ silicon base yes i maxed out the machine for test purposes the factory setting called 24.5 vdc and 400ipm on .045 fc w/ c25. When i saw the worm tracks i fisrt figured it was in the base metat so i tried to cok it out .Lincoln Power Arc 4000 Thermal Arc Fabricator 252 iThermal arc 186Thermal Arc 26 tigTweeko 200 amp spool gunHobart AirForce 400WP-17V-12R |
