I have aquestion; I ran out of "reel wire".030........yesterday. As i checked out what to buy.......... in size[dia]. I have been using a .035 tip.....[still am]........ with this.030 wire. Is this a no-no?Or should i be definitely using wire that takes the same sze tip.I didn't.......... i don't thinkI notice any weld........ difference[performance] between the two size wires. please inform me as to which reel wire,........ to buy after the sno stops. thank you emmensly. bob s THANK YOU!!ps i am using argon and copper coated steel wire.and welding auto sheetmetal. Welds seem to be building instead of flowing in.I posted this one time before,,,,long ago. but can't find the thread bob s i think my welder is 1200 lincoln . mig.Last edited by bsa_bob; 03-13-2013 at 08:15 AM.
Reply:You should use the appropriate size contact tip for the wire being used.
Reply:Bob, I don't think you can use argon for mig steel. Could be the problem of the weld not flowing.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:Argon or 75% argon? You may try a smaller wire also as auto sheet metal is thin.I would use the tip size for the wire.
Reply:thanks all you guys i'm all set bought the wire and its welding up A storm .030 thru a.035 tip with ........75%argon//25%carbon/dioxide Sound right to you? bob s

Reply:I recommend use the tip that matches the wire. using a larger tip is like using a worn tip.Using a worn tip will damage the liner. If the wire looses contact with the tip it starts arcing in the liner. Now the wire will not feed right. |
