Truck Mount Crane Questions

I have been looking at crane trucks for my next mobile rig and was wondering what you guys recommend for models, sizes and so on.I am thinking 9000 to 10000 lb in a knuckle boom. Hiab Pallfinger are good ones I'm told What is the best brand ?What should I avoid ?They are expensive so I don't want to waste $$$ at all. Plus they need inspections so that's more $$$.

Reply:I found a IMT 8025 knuckle boom crane in great shape on an old railroad truck (C-70 GMC) a few years ago for what I thought was a reasonable price.It lifts 13,500 up close and I think about 2500 lb extended.   Really wish it had a winch also included on it.   Might check some of the surplus utility sales or railroad sales. richey
