HTP America Welders Price Drop

I just received an HTP America catalog and they're really cut the prices of their welders, etc. Example, the MIG 140 is $749, down from $1249. It's a heavy beast at 130-pounds  but looks very well made and feature packed -- stitch and spot welding are standard on it, duty cycle of 20% at 140amps and 100% at 60amps. I saw a video on their MIG line and it looked impressive as do some of their tools and accessories. When I saw the $1249 for a 110v MIG I got the idea out of my head but at $749 I just need to get the weight of the thing out of my mind (back, arms...).  What I found interesting is their 90-day return policy and user repair philosophy: "If you have a voltmeter, we can diagnose the problem over the telephone. If you are handy enough to do your own welding or cutting, then you can probably fix your equipment yourself with help from our technicians."Don't see any discussion about HTP here though. Reply:I own their Invertig 201 and so far I just love it.  The quality appears to be good and I've had no problems.  Their website www.htpweld.com has all of their products they just don't list the prices.  I don't see that as a problem because the prices Miller and Lincoln list are just Retail List anyway and not usually what you end up paying.I was impressed to see the price of the Mig 2400 coming in at $1,300.  That might be a better deal than the Miller 210 which is in the same ballpark as far as price goes.Michael
Reply:Hey Michael I saw in HTP's catalog they mention being able to save something like 99 setups to memory on the invertig201. Do you think your machine does this? I can't find any mention of it in the manual, wonder if it is a mis-print or what. I certainly can't figure out from the front panel how I would save a setup.- John

It is a very small shop, like 3 people in an office and a decent sized warehouse space. I'm thinking they simply don't have the resources to put their catalog online, probably decided it isn't enough bang-for-the-buck to do it.That's my guess anyway.- John

Reply:It should say...Post a reply. or, Post a question ?I am looking for a new toy.I have been looking at the Lincoln 255 MIG, The Miller 251 MIG, and The HTP 2400 MIG.  I have a few Lincoln and Miller welders, I also have a small MIG made by Cambell-Hausfeld ( spelling unkown, it's too cold to go out and look in the junk pile) -  ( good compressors, not bad small welders) and a a 25year old Craftsman AC stick machine.  I have a garage full of welders Torches and assorted machine tools.  The big Question is how are the HTP welders and HOW IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE ?My TIG had a problem in the first month and my welding supplier gave me a new TIG. Buying an HTP will **** off all of my local dealers. Is HTP going to take care of problems with their machines as well as my welding dealers? The long and short of this question is HTP customer service reliable ?MikeWOW... I typed the word and all **** came up. What happened to The First Amendment...
