My rheostat burn out on me. I ordered a new one online. Waiting for it to arrive. My question is this: I also need a ditch box and am thinking of building my own. I am wondering if I can leave my burnt out rheostat on my machine and use the new one i ordered to make a field remote box? I hate to put my new one on the machine if i could use it as a remote. Can i leave the old burned out one on the machine and install a toggle switch, and make a remote box out of my new rheostat? Please help me
Reply:Absolutely possible, just don't damage the ditch box or you'll be SOL.Long after the price is forgotten, the quality will remain. Both of my Poppy's 1954 Short Hoods -Third generation to weld with it and teaching a fourthSA 2## - Bought and sold more than I can remember or care to list, 8 in the shop right now
Reply:Thank you very much for the help. I will let y'all know how it goes
Reply:Can the rheostat on these ditch be adjusted while welding or do you have to brake arc? John
Reply:I'm also interested in wiring my machines to run a remote but I'm not sure how to do itI was reading of wiring the fine tune to the 110 outlet and use an extension cord for the remote? if I did this without a toggle switch, could I still use the local fine tune?don't mean to hijack the thread

Reply:Thanks David am I thinking wrong though I was told that you could not adjust the rheostat on the welding machine while welding is this true or a wives tale. |
