Fuel for Rose Bud: Propane, Natural, or Propylene

I posted about having problems with my Smith ST603 Rosebud.  Had a lot of advice to swap to propane for my fuel.  I was also wondering about using Natural Gas.  We use it at work.  We also use propylene, not sure what that is, but it comes in cylinders like LP gas.  And will my ST603 be incompatible with propane/natural gas??Tack It!!
Reply:I guess there must be a diffrence between propane and natural gas..Slight at best..seems to be the same thing but diffrent..I cant say anything about Propylene..Never heard of it.But propane and oxygen is what we use and the heat is fast and furious.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Propylene was used around Houston for cutting as it was available from all the local oil/chemical operations.  The only advantage I ever heard mentioned by the people I knew who used it was price.
Reply:LP and the other fuels (other than acet.) are great for heating....make sure you get the correct rose bud as the acet. ones used with LP will not last very long....
Reply:ive used propylene to cut before, ive noticed it cuts a little smoother than acetylene, but you have to move slower because the flame produced by the propylene isnt as hot.

Reply:Propane provides more units of heat (BTUs) per unit of volume at a given pressure than natural gas by about 2.5 to 1, but propane is more costly in most areas served by natural gas distribution systems.  Most gas apliances use a different orifice for propane than for natural gas, check with the appliance manufacturer for more information about suitability of your choice of gas for any particular appliance.Propane is heavier than air while natural gas is lighter.
