I'm an aspiring tig welder. I just bought my first machine - a Thermal Arc 186 - about two months ago. Seeing and controlling that puddle for the first time was one of the most amazing discoveries of my life. No joke - tig welding is amazing! There's so much I want to do, but being good is a prerequisite, so I'm practicing every single day. What I really need is someone to watch. I need to see what a really skilled tig welder is doing. I learn by seeing, then hearing then doing.I've built a 13 year career out of teaching myself web development way back in 1996; before web development was even offered in school. I practically flunked out of college because I was bored with my computer science classes and wanted to learn internet technology. I taught myself, moved to San Diego and have been here ever since.I want to exchange my skills for someone else's. I have this idea in my head that if I can find the right person to 'teach' me tig welding then I can return the favor by providing my web design skills. Call it a skills exchange. If you need a website for your business or need some simple updates or maintenance and are interested in exchanging this for the simple opportunity for me to watch and listen to you tig weld, then let's chat. I live in San Diego but the internet is global and I have a lot of frequent flier miles. I will travel if I can find the right mentor to teach me the tricks of the trade. I've watched tig videos online ad nauseum but what I really need is a mentor - someone who can let me hang around their shop for a day or two and just observe. If this seems like a reasonable exchange, please let me know. I'm willing to pay for lessons as well but I thought a good old fashioned barter might be a good way to start. |
