Argon.

I pay big bucks for Argon over here and on two occasions I've left the gas tap open. What a waste. My tank sits under the table the machine is on and I think that's where the problem comes in. I was really having trouble with my tig welding about a year ago and no matter what I tried the welds were looking like I had the gas turned off (this was before I left the tap open), I thought it was the material or the tungsten rods but the gas supplier said it might be bad gas. He sold me Crystal Argon touting it as the best. My welds were fine after that. I got a refill that isn't Crystal  last month and the welds are fine. Have any of you experienced bad gas?.

Reply:Yep quite a few times.......in twenty years......I keep several bottles on hand....It doesn't take much to contaminate a bottle. Reply:Stainless does not need a premium argon.  Aluminum might.  Titanium and magnesium certainly does.

Reply:Argon and all gases come in or have many differen purity or categories. Argon alone can be-Research, Semi Conducter, ICP, UHP, HP, Pre Purified, Purified, so and so on. Never heard of a medical grade of Argon though.
