Reply:Make sure that starter will not fit the short hood. We have used the Delco 1107382 - the shaved side starter - for years on the s models. In many cases, it is necessary to put a slight bend in the lifting bale, assuming yours has this piece of formed gauge metal as opposed to the 5/16" thick solid steel that was used in the early 40's. You can easily do this with a pair of vice grips. Some units also required a 3/16" spacer under starter, but this starter has the guts to crank engine on coldest day. Reply:not sure of the part number but yes they are delco starters shaved on 3 sides not sure if they are standard equipment but think they were added on after buying a new unitShad
