Morning, Weldingweb! Heres a quick Saturday video that I just wanted to share with y'all... I'd recently had a few requests for a stick welding video on Stainless Steel, to compliment the Aluminum and Cast Iron stick welding I'd done...So, I picked up a box of 3/32" Hobart 308L-16 Electrodes from a Tractor Supply store, and made this video while I was in Wisconsin...It was awesome! I'd been told these things run very smooth, and let me tell you, they do! They "hiss" as they run, and leave a weld with beautiful colors behind.Anyway, enjoy the video:[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQcGfLtfEiU[/ame]And have a good weekend, everyone [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:Nice vid. Now do some SS stick welding on some pipe. I know some particular companies that do prefer and DO NOT prefer color on the SS weld caps. Its preference I guess. But I have seen some SS tig hands that can make the cap any color with in a certain spectrum.
Reply:Thanks for posting Lanse. I always enjoy your videos!

Reply:First attempt SMAW'n fillet welds with Weldcote 308L-16 today on a few 1/8" SS t-joints (6in long) that were EBW'd.  Ran the 3/32 "308s" on 88-92A (DCEP) w/ the Dynasty 200DX.  The welds turned out solid.  Treated 'em like 7018s and used a drag technique.  Multi-passed on the t-joint to obtain 1/8" legs. Burned quickly!  Output'd a bluish-red-golden hue the entire length. Slag removal, however, required a bit more raking than the 7018s.  Stoked that these electrodes were smooth n fast.  Time to fine tune the amperage, tighten up stinger technique, and explore additional weldment positions.  Looking forward to the journey @ Lanse - just watched your vid.  Gun'a re-test the samples using 75-80A to see if it aids in slag removal.Last edited by ManoKai; 08-07-2013 at 08:15 PM."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:Oh it's you! I saw you on youtube a few months ago and found some of your introductory videos to be helpful.Your buzz box sounds like a whistle + nails & chalkboard box. Is that what high frequency sounds like?If so, what would it be like to do it at the standard ~72 volts [if i'm assuming correctly]?
