Welder placement on trailer?

I'm trying to decide if I should leave it where it is, not bolted down yet, or slide it to the front of the trailer.  My only concern with sliding it all the way up is having too much tongue weight.There will be O/A tanks, crane, 100# propane tank and some other stuff on the trailer eventually as well.
Reply:Can't have too much weight up front. Too much in the back and you end up swaying all over the place.I'd put a cover on the welder tho. Dont want the internals out in the open getting rained on

Reply:I was worried about having too much tongue weight, so I slid her all the way forward and went for a drive.  No problem at all.  I had the death wobbel with too much tongue weight before. I had the cover off so I could run the bolts in the front part, it's back on now.  I also have a weather resistant grill cover that sits on it while it's parked.There's a good foot between the plywood and the welder because of the c channel it's mounted on.  I had also planned on cutting a door into that front wood to make it a little easier.

To the OP, It's really going to depend on the placement of everything else on the trailer. and how the weight ballances out. Planning the layout based on 1 tool isn't going to work. you need to know how everything is going to sit and fit and then adjust from there.
Reply:Tongue length, trailer axle location all figure into the equation, move the welder around until the trailer handles like you want it.
