Anyone like Grizzly tools. I got their catalog today and noticed there pretty reasonibly priced and seem like good quality tools. Ive herd there good quality but ive never owned anything from Grizzly before so i don't know. I might consider buying from them.
Reply:they are very good quality for the price. I own several tools form them and I like them all. I own medium bandsaw, 6 x 48 belt sander, 30 ton press, and a few other small tools. I am happy with them all. THey have great customer service (better than miller) and I plan on buying from them again. The bandsaw is not like an ellis, or the sander is not like a burr king, but for the price I think it is great. I recommend it if you are a small shop or home shop. You could use the machines every day in a industrial shop (they might not last as long compared to a weekend warrior) but I think if that was the case you would get better tools.
Reply:Look at the entire range of suppliers offering imported tooling, and you'll see virtually the same machine offered by all companies. I'm not sure there's much of a difference other than the paint. Not much of a choice nowdays. I would have given my eyeteeth to buy American/Europeon made when I bought my little mill. Not around. Alternative is to buy old American machines and restore them."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Kepe does the rebuilding of a lot of machines. I almost bought a 3hp Bridgeport a couple weeks ago;however, I felt the last thing I needed was to have a big machine that needed the work this one needed. Still looking. I wold love to paint one up and make it shiny new againTheres a guy I know that just sold his Grizzly mill for another import..cant remeber the name. I guess Id buy one if the deal was good. But like mentioned earlier, Id really like to paint up an old Bridgport weld it like you own it
Reply:Another stumbling block is the fact that a lot of the Bridgeports out there are 3 phase. Not undoable, but expensive to get around."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I've purchased some things from them. As mentioned, the machine tools are Chinese, just like everything else these days.I buy saw blades from Grizzly. Previously bought dust collection equipment, optical center punch (which I really like), milling bits, etc.One item I bought, a Circle Cutter, item # H7538, is just downright dangerous! It is an absolute POS. I've complained about it, and they offered a refund, but I'm going to modify it one of these days to make it useable. Fly cutters are always hazardous, but all the little pieces come loose on this one and go flying across the shop!America Needs AMERICA'S Oil!!!"Global warming is the greatest scam in history ...There is no run away climate change. Reply:Is that like the one I've seen on Ebay lately. A fly cutter with about a 4" radius? Cutter sits out on the end of a bar? Wear those safety glasses, or do a feed rate that'll get ya done sometime around next Winter."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:just got a 5x6 swivel head bandsaw. quality seems very good, cut good with no blade adjustments. got three bimertal blades with it but still using the inckluded blade as it is ok. i think the websiter said made in taiwan. the owners manual had no grammatical errors and the customer service has been very responsive to prepurchase questions. assembly from the box was easy, everything fit. making an angle iron base for ittoday (wheelbarrow style with 2 wheels) as the stock base has 2 small wheels and no real place to hold when you wanna move it.also found that the vise is good for long stock but theres no table to which you can clamp small items that need cutting. gonna devise a tableas well. will post a foto.

Reply:ed mac, have you got the shear yet?
Reply:6" rotary milling table. Works fine.Included properly spelled manual written by an English speaking technical writer. Been happy with it.Came with tailstock, and dividing plates. A poor mans dividing head if used properly with right angle fixture.Cutters, and other tooling from Grizzly is a little overpriced though."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
