Short hood F-162 year?

I have a 1945 Short hood with the F-162. It has a rebuild tag on the block from Lincoln Electric Date stamped "12-53", bored out 0.040, STD Main and Rod journals, with the serial # 31370. The engine block is also stamped 31370, but on the right side of the block has a date 1-16-Q. I called Montes Equipment and they said it was a 1965 engine. Doesn't really make since being that the rebuild tag has Dec 1953 on it. Reply:found lot block dates on top head usually in center closes water neck near firing order,, may strip some paint
