Reply:It would help if we knew what you were going to be using them for.I have the IR 3102 angler grinder. I like the small 2" pads becasue they get into tight spaces. I use it mainly for prep work and to finish up metal work. It work great for want I need it to. I bought the IR 3102K which is the kit with the 2" and 3" pad and about 10 discs. It was $94 when I go tit a few years ago, now I just looked and it is about $150.but to recommend anything, we need to know what you are going to be using it for.
Reply:For general grinding work I really like the electric 4 1/2 inch grinders.  The high end ones are well over a hundred bucks and the bottom line Harbor Freight ones are usually on sale for under 30 bucks.  Somewhere in between will last quite a while.  you can get grinder disks, sanding disks and metal and brick cutting disks for them just about anywhere.  They are light enough to use one handed and most are heavy duty enough to do a lot of work.Like was said above what use are you looking for.Bob from Idaho
Reply:Definitely for prep and finish work.My logic wanted to get the 5" high speed sander but I see people using the right angle die grinder because of smaller spaces it gets in to and wanted to get some feedback on any pro/cons with either.Still deciding.Hardric
Reply:Notice,  that sanders ARE NOT GRINDERS, but all GRINDERS ARE SANDERS.   Sanders and buffers do not have the power needed to grind.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

I have set up with cutoff wheel and the other grinding wheel. Also I forgot tell you I got them at Lowes.Lincoln SP 135 plusHF 14" chop sawDewalt 4.5" angle grinderloads of hand tools for my Trade job
Reply:Here again finish what? I finish sand storage containers, trash compactors and roll off cans with a cheap air sander.I wouldn't dream of finish sanding a car/tuck body or even a tractor with anything but a DA sander.Tough as nails and damn near as smart
Reply:What is the job at hand?If you are in a home or small shop, start simple. The multi-purpose tool that gives you the best bang for the buck to do the job at hand is the one to start with. We normally add tools as needed. When you can't decide between 2 tools, get both. Maybe you can't afford both, or don't have lockable space for both. Then you have to make up your own mind. Planning for growth has its place. Prime tool storage space may become the limiting factor! Some of the veterans of the shop will have 2 sets of tools, one at work, another at home. Then the question of mobile work gets thrown into the equation...it never ends...  City of L.A.
