so you need to buy x-mas gift for yourself. The milwaukee 8'' metal cutting saw, is awsome I picked one up a few weeks back at the local welding /steel yard for about $260. bucks a little spendy but, alot cheaper than a plasma cutter. I still want a plasma! blades are alittle pricey too about $50. to $60.bucks I think? have'nt bought any yet. Last night I broke out the new saw for the frist time. I started cutting up an old 250 gal. fuel oil tank for a smoker project. The thing cut throught 12 ga. like butter .Today I cut up a 2nd tank. I figure I've cut close to 65 feet of 12 ga. and still cuttin like the frist cut. The saw is like a wood saw, you can get a fence for rips or clamp a 2x4 or staight edge for a guide. Nice clean staight cuts no worrys about wraping. cool, dry cuts. Safty Glasses and ear plugs are a must,as they should be. to Milwaukee  to the 6370 metal sawDaye Attached Images

Reply:I got the evolution 9". works well with thinner stuf. <1/4"I have cut 3/8" with it, but so far it didnt cut an acceptable length with one blade to make it worth my while.Although it was a real nice cut. Better than any plasma cut.I see the milwakee has a black lever behind the blade is that for lifting the blade guard?unfortunatly mine doesnt have one which makes it hard to start a cut in the correct place on certain materials, like angle or box section.  G
Reply:Hi,  I'v got the Evolution chop saw with 14" blade, Cuts really fast and cool, TCT teeth have 3 different profiles So each tooth isn't doing a full cut, BRILLIANT!   Best regards  Gordon
Reply:Could you just put one of those evolution saw blade in a miter saw? How much dust does one of those carbide blades make? Chop saws are alright, but i always have to use a combination square to get acurate 45 cuts.....
Reply:Hi,  Evolution blade gives no dust at all,just quite large metal chips. You would have to check on revs etc if you tried to use a different machine,  Cheers  Gordon.

Reply:At our cnc shop we have a SteelMax Metal Cutting Saw! Its basically a chop saw with carbide tipped blades versus abrasive blades. Available at AirGas and the price is not cheap at $499.99 with blades going from $97-$148 each.Personally I can get almost as fine a cut using my Hypertherm PowerMax 45 Plasma Cutter. Reply:I guess the Admiral couldn't get the new Drill Press, Milling machine, Gearhead Lathe and Cold saw in her car and I took the insurance off of the big truck to save money so I will have to wait for my Christmas list to be filled.  I did get a new Digital Camera and we were able to get all the kids (and Grandson) great Christmas gifts this year!!
