OK, so not quite the full size battleship project, but it was a fun project non the less.  This is an ammo re-loading table I made for a friend (paying job), using scrap I had on hand. He saw a metal ammo re-loading table at "his" friends home and wanted one like it.  I made a slightly different version.  The top and base are 3/8" plate (21"x30") for the base; (20"x30") for the top; 1/4" x 6"x4" rectangular tube mono support, with 3/8" gussets (left over from the plate I had on hand).  I cut the 3/8" plate in a sheer and the scrap rectangular tube was the exact size needed as I found it (that was nice!).  The table weighed in at exactly 201 pounds.  It took approximately 8 hours to build (counting a trip to the school to use the sheer), and hand brushing an oil based, semi-gloss battleship "haze grey and underway" grey paint that covered the table nicely.  Settings used: Lincoln Electric PM 256, WFS: 350, V: 20.4.  The yellow device is a 1000 pound hold capacity, multi-angle mag vice, which has come in handy often!Gar. Reply:Good looking and well made table. Looks really heavy and sturdy. Love the color gray. Great use of scraps. Well done!-www.sawblade.com
Reply:Thanks Ironman,I was real pleased with how stable this table was when finished. Also pleased that the top did not warp much at all after welding the base (tacking the gussets in place first and letting it cool before unclamping seemed to help with that).GarLincoln Electric, Power MIG 256Hypertherm Powermax 45 Miller Dynasty 280DXSmith O/A torchGenesis of a welding table
Reply:I like it!  I still have my single stage mounted on a wooden bench - the one you did is cooler Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:I took a different approach on my reloading bench.  I could see how your design would be great for a lot of applications.
Reply:@ Gar - Professional. "Clean lines", as always, in your design/builds. The battleship grey look rocks!  You "up'd the iron" on my {portable} B&D Workmate II-based Reloading Table built several moons prior. Reply:@ Gar - custom built top deck with oak sheating and cherry wood trim.   Base is a *used* B&D WorkMate Deluxe scored off CL for $80.  Light weight and highly portable.  No welding on this built; however,Need to affix a custom bracket to the outer/top section of the Harrell's Precision Combo Press, in order to provide vertical clearance to seat 300WM bullets via a Wilson inline dies.   Amounts to gaining 1.5" additional vertical clearance for the press's inline ram to stroke.Deciding between a drill & attach operation -or- a grind & TIG operation for affixing the bracket to the combo press.  Drill & attach, easy day.  Grind & TIG, cooler!  The press is Type II anodized and unless the coating is removed and surface prepared, TIGn the bracket to the press would be a disaster.Have not fab'd the bracket.  In the worx.  Will move project to a separate thread.  Posted for thread continuity in response to #8. Reply:Great build. Like how it turned out.
Reply:Attn Mods: would you rotate my posted photo? PhotoBucket jam'd me.  Looked correct on preview, but resulted in a 180deg out."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
