If anyone lives near Athens, GA, there is a lathe, two vertical mills, and an old Lincoln motor-generator welder listed for bidding that close in about two days.http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/ga-sur...Q_fromZQQ_mdoZTeddCoHTP Microcut 400 & Invertig 160DC Smith Dual Guard MD-510 OA Rig Lincoln SP135+ Hobart Stickmate LX 235/160

Reply:For someone nearby, the lathe would be worth looking at; the State of Georgia says:Bidders are invited and strongly encouraged to physically inspect the offered property prior to bidding.
Reply:I learned to arc weld in my apprenticeship on one of those Lincolns. In fact even the photo of the setting reminded me of the welding bay. Hasn't Denrep got one of those? (as a standby welder if my memory serves me correctly) I've only ever seen a couple of them for sale here."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for." Reply:Yep!! You should always go and look at the items. On most of these auctions many of the items are stored outside. The pictures are usually taken when the items are first turned in! So if they have been sitting there for awhile you might be getting a rust bucket. Or electronics that have been outside in the rain.I have bought alot of stuff at the gov't DMRS site.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:I bought my Lincoln TM 300/300 on an eBay auction. Came from a Vo-Tech School in MS. Instead of listing one at a time, they listed all they had, in individual auctions. Paid $200 for the machine (opening bid), and another $195 to ship it to PA. Nothing wrong, works great.Being this equipment is from a vocational school, I wouldn't be afraid of any of it. The stuff should go reasonable. I attend the yearly auctions held here in Harrisburg, stuff brought in from all the high schools for a central location auction. I get some really neat stuff, for not much money. I like the state GSA auctions also. |
