Need to throw a back cap on the torch to get in some tight areas, is there a particular sized tungsten sold for this or should I just use a short leftover tungsten?ThermalArc 181i | Lotos WS200

Reply:those short tungstens are mostly for micro torches and automated rigs, sharpened on both ends to minimize downtime in the machine. You can use them but it will be cheaper just to cut one of yours down.
Reply:Zapster posted his method for cutting tungstens once upon a time. It works well. Basically just score the tungsten where you need it to break, clamp it in the vise next to the score and grasp it with a pair of pliers to snap it off cleanly. Sharpen as usual.I keep all the butt ends for those "short cap days".RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches
Reply:I just use old nearly used up tung for the back caps. For snapping off tung I just use two pliers, no score.
