I am currently using a 700lb service car with a flip top 5 drawers. Its packed full inside and out. Has anyone built there on job box style box or has anyone built and mobile carts/ cabinets?? Pics would be great! MAybe we all can grab some ideas from others sharing ThanksRussOwner G&S Mobile Welding & Millwright Services, LLCSpencerville, Ohio Adult Ed. Reply:This is one of my drop and go boxes, 60" piano box with a chest welded in, and hangers for grinding wheels and stuff.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:That looks like a nice setup Tozzi

Reply:I cut the top lid off the crapsman box, it is top heavy without a wire feeder and a few tins of rods in the bottom, I usually just rig it with 2 16 foot straps and crane iti in and out of my truck. This is a work in progress, I want bigger casters, another chest, shelf on the front, and maybe a mount for an oxy/fuel set up. I am in to this for under $400 and I am ready to start on another one.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Thanks.Yeah, you're into it right, for sure.Hmm... maybe a front shelf or tray, for chain/binders/bars would be enough to counterweight it?I should post pics of the ingenious lock-rod that Brand-X boxes use.Last edited by denrep; 09-08-2013 at 05:07 PM.
Reply:If you are worried about general stability just move the casters outboard a little. Won't help with forklift moving, but that should be a little more stable  than when it is sitting on its wheels.
Reply:It's still in progresss. It 22 deep, 38 tall and 45 wide.I had to buy 1 sheet 48x96 of 14 guage, the rest was made from drop I had in the shop

Reply:No Pics sorry but as a first year apprentice my first tool box on my first Holden 1 tonner was an old fridge I found on the side of the road . Had it for years !BrettA good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:Some pretty slick setups!! Thanks for sharing. I found a field station for cheap in my area that i might get and modify. I am thinking about adding a 10" wide compartment on the side the width and height of the box that has a door. So when i open it all my levels grinders and other largers tools will be hanging in that. Of course have some shelves for small things like lubes, cleaners, and all that good stuff!Owner G&S Mobile Welding & Millwright Services, LLCSpencerville, Ohio Adult Ed. Reply:I've been thinking real hard about building a roll cabinet. At work I have a cornwell roll cart and it's full.I have a 48x 16g box pan brake, I can make the cabinet 30x65 with 30x48 drawers and a 12" "power cabinet" for power tools. The structor out of 1.5" square tube
Reply:For what we do a mechanics rollaway does not work, we have big bulky tools that take up space. Add in a set of leads, helmet, big grinder, wire feeder, etc....you need a big box.
Reply:That green box looks like it would serve me well. Throw the entire tool setup in there along with my tig setup. Nice
Reply:Here's mine I have at workAnd like Tozzi said,It doesn't hold welding tools very well. That's why I want to build one, with small draws for mechanicing and large drawers for hoods, comealongs etc.

Reply:I just have the plain old tool boxes.
Reply:If you're looking for inspiration check this one out. If I had some spare change I'd buy it. Old, but useful.http://sacramento.craigslist.org/tls/4024561444.html
