Just fooling around today, decided the big Lincoln needed a little run time. I hooked up the 12VS with .045 hardwire and 100%CO2 and gave her a run. In 4th gear with the fine set between 60 and 70 and wire speed at 260. This is a good setup for material over 1/4" as it sprays in hot and fast. I should really rebuild the carburator, but for a machine I have not ran in over 2 years, she is doing just fine. Yes I am wearing shorts and a T-shirt, the safety police can go die nowDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:LOL, you people are the ones that sound different...I might try getting a 6010 downhill vid later, in that case I will have sleeves on.......Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:I am waiting for some heavy flux core wire I ordered to come, then I will do a proper pairing of the $100 LN25 and this machine. It was and still is a popular combo for equipment repair.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:@7A749, you know it, the SA-250 is rated at 250 amps on paper but she will do over 400 if you let her. The TB will do 250 comfortably, but you are beating it up. The other thing is the old Lincoln is a 4 cylinder liquid cooled low RPM machine, the TB is an aircooled high rpm machine trying to mimic the performance of a machine twice its size. Don't get m wrong the TB is a great machine, but you will burn it up quick if you don't know it's limits.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:CEP, I missed out on a sweet SAM400 because a $hitbum customer didn't pay me.....GRRRRRRRDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Back in the early 1980's I wanted a SAM-400 so bad I could taste it. But they wanted $12,000.00 for one, I just could not go that much back then. So I settled on a Trailblazer 55D, it cost $9,000.00 with feeder. Reply:Yeah, I don't know why Miller stopped building the 55D, or why Lincoln stopped building the SAM-400! The Commander replaced the SAM-400, I never really ran a Commander other than showing someone how to set their machine. I was in management when the Commanders came out. I bought 5 of them for one project, guys really seemed to like them.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I believe it is simple economics, I know I am not making as much as my Dad did 30 years ago(all things concidered, cost of living, cost of goods, versus take home wages) I am sure a SAM400 would cost me 35 grand today. It is a dog and pony show with the fed and I will end it there.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:I tried to go out on my own, that is why I bought the 55D. But I couldn't make as much money as working by the hour. I turned around and rented the 55D to the companies I worked for by the month, and I worked for scale. Here is the project I bought the 5 Commanders for, 1-mile of pipe trestle. http://generalconstructionco.com/lib...&nLibraryID=11Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Consider yourself lucky that you DON'T  have to rebuild the carb!!!!!  My welder sits for a few months at a time without use, and it's normally humid here, and we've had record rains this Summer. So I go to fire it up to do some corral gate repair, AND THE STUPID THING JUST PUMPS BOOOOOCOOOOOO AMOUNTS OF RAW GAS DOWN THE INTAKE  Stupid carb is f***ed.So I tear it all apart (mind you, it's about 100 degrees/70% humidity), AND IN ALL THE YELLING AND SCREAMING I FORGET TO TAKE PICS OF THE STINKIN LINKAGE I have pics now!!!!!!!!!!  AFTER THE FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So I get it tore down, and order the parts.  JEEEEZUZ KEERIST!!!!  Crappy carb kit comes to around $175!!  Just a few gaskets, some O-rings, and a float valve  ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE STINKIN DOLLARSI get the carb all cleaned out (there was water in the gas, and the insides were all gooed up, and the O-rings were like fossilized wood).  All this despite the fact I use Stabil in every ounce of gas that goes into the thing.I got my finished masterpiece sitting on the kitchen counter, and it's ready to go back on the machine.Take it outside, and...............................................  .................. CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  IT'S BEEN TORE DOWN FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, AND I'VE FORGOTTEN WHERE ALL THE LINKAGE GOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I figure "how hard can this be?", just gotta put everything back where it'll fit............First thing I do is yank the throttle rod out of the go***n solenoid, AND THE SOLENOID IS CLEAR BACK UNDER THE HOOD!! So now I got to take the entire hood offFinally I figure out where everything goes, and get it all back together..................cept for the hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They come off real easy, but TRY TO GET THE HOLES LINED UP TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER  That's another hour of quality time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Fire it up, starts immediately.  WhewThen it starts to cough, wheeze, cut out, and generally puke for the next 10 minutes.  Uh Oh................Finally it clears up and starts to run sweet.  I guess there was still some crap gas in the line, or at the bottom of the tank.Moral is.......run the stupid things every week to keep your water out of the tank.  No place to put a water trap on the thing, so it's gotta be run occasionally.ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE STINKIN' DOLLARS"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
