So, I am starting to build me a welding table and one of the components is 3 pieces of W6x15 beam. I ordered a 10' piece but my portable band saw will only cut up to 5". Is there anybody in the New Braunfles, San Antonio, Austin area that wouldn't mind helping me out. Only need two cuts so it shouldn't take very long. The beam to be cut is 6" x 6". Thanks in advance.Brian
Reply:Why not order it to cut lengths from the distributor?Blackbird
Reply:I tried. They will only sell it in either 10' or 20' pieces and any cutting they do is with a torch. I can do it with a torch, but I'd like the cut to be cleaner than a torch can make. Both suppliers use a torch and neither has a bandsaw.
Reply:Any reason it can't be cut with an O/A torch? There's also plasma. Why only a bandsaw to cut it?

Reply:If no members in your area with the right saw to do it soon enough, check with local machine shops or welding shops that may have a big enough band saw.
Reply:I just emailed this thread to a friend in the Canyon Lake area. He may be able to help.

Reply:He replied back that he sold his bandsaw. Surely there is someone on the forum in your area. Good luck.
