Hello! I've done some research, and after an hour and a half i'm still confused and unsure of what yet to buy. Here's what i want to do.-I'm looking for a saw that cuts carbon steel and wood. -I want to be able to cut flat stock and round steel.-I want to be able to cut at 0 degrees to 90 degrees. If that's not possible, than at least 0-45 degree.I would like to pay around $500 to $1000Any suggestions? Thanks!Last edited by SHaW; 01-15-2015 at 09:00 PM.
Reply:Being able to cut steal and wood probably isn't going to happen. The blade speeds are different for each other. I'm sure someone else will chime in with the exact reasoning. Wood is a much faster blade speed from metal.Lincoln Pro Mig 180Lincoln Pro Core 125Hypertherm 30xpPorter Cable Drill PressAcra 7x12 bandsaw48" sheet metal brakeCrap load of other tools, working on metal now.
Reply:Bandsaw! Can't cut wood the guys says.  lol12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
Reply:I would and do have multiple dedicated saws for both wood and metal. Oil, sawdust, and sparks don't work so well.  Just my opinion though.  Good luck with your search.
Reply:I to have had the idea that two saws were needed. What I learned, metal does need the slower speed. I slowed down a Delta wood bandsaw to cut metal, worked out real well. From time to time I will do a wood project and have used the bandsaw to cut wood parts. My take on it, of the two buy the  metal cutting saw and use it on wood when needed, wood being much more forgiving. Much harder the other way around, I would add wood tooth blades are finer and need the speed, when I cut wood with the metal saw, I do it using the same blade.Magazines have issues, everything else has problems
Reply:So, can you get a band-saw that can miter from 0 degrees horizontally to 90 degrees vertically?I've only seen them either do a horizontal cut,45 degree cut and a 90 degree, but what i want to do is say maybe do one that's on a 32 degree or a 56 degree cut.I'm still very confused... i thought maybe a chop-saw could , but apparently that's is not a choice. Thanks guys for any input.
Reply:I have an Evolution Rage3 10" sliding compound miter saw that cuts anything from wood to stainless. It isn't the best at anything but for ~$250 it works well for me. You should always make sure you are using the right blade for the material you are cutting. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Evolution...Q&gclsrc=aw.dsGravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
