Gents--I have no affiliation with Strong Hand Tools, but thought this is worthy of a post in the event you weld square or rectangular tubing up to about 2.250 inches. The cool thing with this jig is the upright clamp. This for me was a real time saver and things end up square in three directions. I picked it up about at my local steel yard for about $160, it will pay for itself in the first few projects. their web site is:www.stronghandtols.com.
Reply:Yep those are great. I have 2 more budgeted in to the rack I am going to hopefully build in the spring. They are not cheap, but the are a time saver if you do alot of that sort of thing by yourself.

Reply:Those look great. I have some smaller, cheap harbor freight clamps that will do the corners, though it won't do the vertical piece that you have. It did get my 2"x2" table top absolutely perfectly square when I built it.Mike

Reply:I see that it is in the new Northerntool.com cataloghttp://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...5919_200355919This is the review from a buyer. I am not sure of what he means in describing it not being level?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"I use this clamp for tacking together square tubing and angle iron. The 'threaded-rod-slide' push button speeds up the clamping time. You will have to put a 1" spacer on the other end of your work piece to make it level, or just buy two angle clamps, one for each end. The clamp is durable and well made."What is your level of technical expertise?: ProfessionalLast edited by TxDoc; 03-15-2009 at 12:39 AM. |
