I have a Miller CP 300, with a Millermatic S52A wire feeder, It is a 230/460 volt THREE PHASE ONLY machine. It has a long (maybe 50' power cable and a fair condition Tweeco gun. I have not used it in years and was considering selling it. Does anyone have a rough idea as to what this is worth? I might eBay it. I'm in SE MA. Also, I have a monster of an AC only Buzz Box, (Miller I think) If I remember right, it's a 400 amp. machine. I am ceaning out some stuff from a storage trailer, and can't get close enough to get the specs on this yet. It sits about 4 1/2' tall (on wheels) and about 3' square. Very heavy, 220 volt single phase.I will entertain offers on [email protected] my opinion, not from a book, just from the road.Howes Welding Inc.www.howesweldinginc.com
Reply:I can't begin to estimate the value but I do know the 3 phase stuff goes pretty cheap. I think 3 phase welders lose value faster than a car.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill

Reply:Unfortunately, the value is going to depend a LOT on where you are. These don't show (nor do any of the other 3phase CP machines) on Epay in the last year or so, so there is no real guidance there. If the feeder is in good condition, since consumables seem to still be readily available (unlike, say, a 10A feeder, where it is a search), Id suggest $300 or so for the feeder as a starting point. You might get more, might not get that, but I have seen several used feeders in that price range lately, and new, current model feeders are in the $1000 to $1500 range. The source itself? What's it weigh? Roughly 300Lbs? That would put it at maybe $300 scrap value, the price of coper being what it is. It would be a real shame, as these are sweet, smooth sources. Try a scrap dealer for a baseline price, and maybe go 50% higher than scrap as a selling price.
Reply:We bought several CP300's on ebay last year. They show up frequently. We normally pay at auction 400 to 700 for a package. In our part of the country, scrap yards are paying .25 to .35/lb for welders. If you can find a retail buyer, of course that's your best bet. If you are interested, we can buy the package there in SE MA and pick it up later with other equipment stored there. If the AC welder is a 400S, we would like to have that as well. weldersales |
