Choosing a Mig welder

I am looking at a Hobart 190 from Norther Tool? I am think of buying one and wanted some help choosing. My two top choices are the Hobart 190 and a miller 180, I am a home hobbyist and would be using the welder for making off road bumpers and things like that. If i have my information right the two welders are identical. The Hobart is $699.99 from Northern Tool and the Miller is a little over $1000 at my local welding supply store. This will be my first mig welder and I want to know which is better and where is the best place to buy. Thanks for the help.

Reply:I would skip them both and consider the Hobart 210 or the Miller 211. I don't know your location but Farm and Fleet has the 210 on sale for $794.99. Reply:Miller 180 gets my vote.  I went thru this same decision about a year ago. Everyone says the Hobarts are great welders too but I just liked the infinite voltage on Miller 180 vs the tapped on Hobart 190.  My Miller 180 has done everything I've needed to weld in my home garage I think its rated for 5/16 single pass.  If you want multi process welder Lincoln has a new Powermig 210 that is mig stick and tig all in one for $1000 but you might have to wait for it has it might be in high demand.
Reply:The Handler 190 produces a cleaner running arc then Millermatic 180. This basically means the 190 has the potential  to produce less spatter. The 190 also wets the weld puddle out better then the 180. Compared to  the 190 the top end arc on the 180 is a little on the harsh side. Understand though I still consider the MM 180 to be a good unit.Lincoln's Power MIG 180C is a very good unit too. Its one weakness though is that it doesn't offer quite as much top end power as the Handler 190 and Millermatic 180.I find Miller's "NEW" Millermatic 190 intriguing. It offers more top end power than the Handler 190 or MM 180.
