I recently bought a 4x6 metal bandsaw from HF.  It's working great for 90 degree cuts, but when I try to cut a 45 degree angle in a long piece of angle or tube, the lower blade guide hits the work piece.  Is this normal?  I can get around it by putting a spacer on the fixed jaw of the vise, but wish that wasn't necessary.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
Reply:A spacer will do it.  Does the roller assembly slide?  Mine does.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The guide does slide up and down, but even with the guide adjusted down as far as it will go, it barely contacts the work piece.
Reply:Time to start making up some spacers and other little tools for your new band saw. I have the same one and it works great once you figure out a few minor work-arounds. I have about a dozen different spacers and angled metal for clamping, and can cut just about anything at any angle.Last edited by slagmatic; 05-13-2009 at 12:03 AM.

Reply:Hey folks just bought this machine , wondering how its holding up, for the ones who have had it for awhile? Thanks
Reply:Which model is it?
Reply:JC, is that question directed at me or ngneer?  Mine is a red 1 hp model from Harbor Freight.Ngneer, I've only had mine for a week or so longer than you, so I can't say how it will last, but except for knocking a few teeth off of the cheap blade, mine is cutting great.
