I have to fab up a custom flange on a down pipe for automotive exhaust. While the pipe is regular steel and open to heat, is there anything I can do to delay the rust creation at the weld?Mild Steel, Wire Feed Mig, high heat application.
Reply:High temp paint. Could have the whole part coated after it's welded. Goes without saying that stainless would likely be a better choice
Reply:Have it ceramic coated like is done on headers. Not cheap, but works well.
Reply:I would spray the weld with cold galvinizing kinda pricey for a can but will last a while
Reply:Cool, Thanks for he input. I'll use all of the above. I have some weld thru primer over the welds now, but will look that stuff out. I know it won't last forever, just more than a few days before it rusts. I have my own lift, so I can keep it clean too. |
