Bandsaw Help

I bought a used bandsaw about a week ago, the guy put a 1HP Dayton electric mototr on it it is single phase 120 volt motor, It is not wired up and has the wires hanging out of it with a cord connected, also here is the problem, the shut off switch needs to be wired in it to shut off the bandsaw when it falls in contact with the switch, how do I wire this up, the motor has low voltage and high voltage schematics but does the switch tie in series with the nueral wire then back to the motor,Jon
Reply:Put the switch in line with the black wire.A butterfly without wings, is just an ugly bug
Reply:Agreed, never, never switch the neutral [white wire], only the hot [black wire]. If you’re having trouble with the rest of the hook-up let us know.
Reply:The switch is a metal switch that you pull up to turn the bandsaw on and it is mounted in the metal frame, what if the insulator goes bad one day and me or someone reaches to turn it on and zap
Reply:I have a 1'/2 HP single phase 120 Volt motor I am trying to connect. It has four identical Black wires coming out of the top.
