Has anyone heard anything on it? People keep telling me all the time that once they approve it I should get on it. How does somebody without a Rig of their own get a job on a pipeline? I live in New york and I'd love to do a little traveling to make some money but not sure where to start. I hear North Dakota is booming for welders too but can't seem to find much info on who's hiring for real welders and not Joe Schmo from the muffler shop.Keystone Pipeline*Last edited by M_Connors; 02-02-2015 at 10:25 AM.Reason: Misspelled The Subject
Reply:It's not all pipeline. It's the associated work that will come available. Storage tanks and revamping the Port Arthur refinery. Massive coker units will be required to break down the bitumen. Also pollution controls. Lots of work.
Reply:That's cool. Sounds like it would be a cool opportunity. Thanks.
Reply:Houston area is the place to be for welders right now.
Reply:Since you don't have your own rig, you could try to get hired as a welders helper, if you are wanting to gain experience in pipeline work. Then see how that goes before spending the money to get rigged out for it.
Reply:Thanks guys.
Reply:I rig weld, and spend a fair amount of time in north Dakota, every tom Dick and Harry it seems showed up looking for work and for awhile a pulse was all that was needed to land a laborers job, however now with the drop b in oil prices there have been some serious lay offs and not just ND but Texas, Colorado, west Virginia, Ohio, and even Alaska hasMillermatic 210Esab 450IThermal Arc 400 GTSW1972 SA200

Reply:Here's a reason that the pipeline may end up not being approved again.http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/e...e-xl-pipeline/But I think it still needs to be built now, so it will be in place when it is needed in the future. Oil prices won't stay low forever, and it will be needed later.
Reply:Might have to wait for a different president for that pipeline, he seems dead set against it for some reason.
