A while back I cut out some adapter plates to convert and old bucket and a bale squeeze to be used with an IR telehandler for a friend. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...Adapter-Plates He was very happy with the adapters. As bad luck would have it a couple months ago his JD telehandler had an electrical fire and burned to the ground overnight.  He bought another IR telehandler and called to see if I could make some plates for his large JD sawdust bucket. While I was there he said he might rebuild the JD so it was decided to make a quick connect adapter. I pulled up some of the old drawings and modified them. I start cutting today.
Reply:I'll be looking forward to seeing this one built.Ya gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:I cut out most of the parts today. The square tube was found at the farm, it's old and ugly but it should work. Can't build anything for a farmer that doesn't have some old parts.  I still need to cut some 1/2" plate for the front and turn the ears. I have the lathe tied up for another 2 or 3 days on another job so the ears will be done last. I should have it tacked up on Monday.
Reply:I cleaned up the holes on each of the parts so they match and are straight. The plasma leaves a fairly nice hole but the draft can cause them to be tight on one side.
Reply:Thanks for sharing, I learn a lot by watching what others have done. This looks really good so far. You have to love that CNC plasma, makes quick work out of something that would have taken hours to get right before.
Reply:Nice work Randy.by the way, the bushings are doing great. thanks a lot for that. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:not to hard at all, they ride real smooth. but I'm not the primary rider, My 11 yr old step son is. but I have taken a couple short trips on it and it did excellent. Get this, the darn thing doesn't have an oil filter.... WHAT? why you ask, well because it's continually spraying oil out the breather hose and you're adding oil every 5-6 hrs or ride time. no need for a filter. cheap Chi.... anyway, the bushings are doing great. There are no problems. Reply:looks like a nice spot to roll out some dual shield if you have it.  Looks good from here.

Reply:Finished turning the horns today from 4" CR. I think these suckers will require some serious pre-heat.
Reply:What setup are you welding this with?  I don't think you would really need pre-heat much if at all if your spraying or running dual shield.  I wouldn't even try to short circuit weld this with 75/25.

Reply:I've been toying with the idea of adding some quick connect locks similar to what's used on a skid steer. Having never really played with the mechanism I started with rough dimensions... only to discover they wouldn't fit in the space... so I messed around with it for a while and I think I have a working solution. Any thoughts?Last edited by forhire; 10-25-2013 at 05:47 AM.
Reply:Use something like tractor hitch pins cut up to do this, they should hold up against bending a lot better than the regular old cold or hot rolled.
Reply:The quick connect looks like it will work, just make sure it over centers far enough. Machine operators can make the attachments bounce pretty good, don't want them to release and loose an attachment.Miller 180SDLincoln weld pak 180Hobart 250ciMill Lathe
Reply:I finished the adapter on Friday aside from the pin mechanism but didn't have time to check the fit. On my way home today I stopped by to check everything. Turns out it has already been put to work. I didn't even get a chance to paint it.Randy, again, you're the man!-Aaron  Jet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
