Hi all,I picked this goodie up for $10.00 at an auction this past April. Finally got to cleaning it up, and checking it out this past weekend. The bolts holding the movable jaw's workface were stripped out. Two 5/16-18 Heli-coils and some 3/4" socket head screws fixed that problem! After disassembling it, cleaning the rust off of the machined surfaces and giving it a good oiling, it works great. Turns out the remaining fasteners are metric. So I have no idea if it is European, Japanese or Chinese.Does anyone know were I can find, purchase, steal or make replacements for the missing pipe jaws on the bottom?Any clues on what these jaws are for? Thanks for the help. Reply:Looks like a nice heavy duty vice! Nice score! If the fasteners are metric that tells you that it is less than 50 years old.

Reply:The jaws on the top of the jaws in photo #4 are to hold round stock, or that is what I have seen them used for.You hold the part on the O.D so you can work on the face of the part.Nice vise but I would not do much hammering on the anvil. As it is not made for that type of work. It is way to soft to use as an anvil for hot work, maybe as a base for cold cut chisel work. You did good with you money.Joe

Reply:It's a Chin made vice. My neighbor has one exactly like it.
Reply:I got to HF over the weekend. What they are selling and my vice are VERY different.Theirs is 1/3 smaller. They've added a separate lock to keep the head from rotating when the jaws are unloadedThe pipe teeth are part of thier casting.Still gotta find a source for those insterts!Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:It's not a HF but it is a chinese made vice.
Reply:I've got a carbon copy of that one that I'm using right now. Picked it up at Tractor Supply or some other such place that sells low budget vices. It's the second one of those I've had over a long time span. Busted the outer jaw off the last one. Those pipe jaws won't hardly say in place.
